With a background in graphic design I get pretty tickled by the fact that Pantone (a color system I use daily) chooses the color of the year which dictates the color of anything considered to be "on-trend."

This year's color is emerald. I'm pretty excited by this one because it's my birthstone & well it's just so glamorous.  Even if you don't have a lot of green in the bank you can still work some of this lush emerald into your life. These are my wallet-friendly picks (read: $47 & under) .

Orange You Glad It's Not A Black Outfit

The majority of my life is spent in NYC, working, where black is the easiest go-to when it comes to getting dressed but I like color (obviously).

I've had this trapeze shirt dress for a while now.  I have it in red too. It's super versatile. It has pockets. It's the right amount of structured plus relaxed. It that blue color I obsess over on a daily basis. I love it.

I usually belt it but lately I have been into light layers.  This bright blue & orange are two of my favorite colors so it was only fitting that I pair them together.

Since I live in Hoboken (a whopping 3 miles from the big apple) I have to walk a bit for my commute so comfy & walkable shoes are a must.  These sandals straddle cuteness & comfort perfectly.

Belted Leopard Look

The peplum look is hot this season but if you haven't added a peplum piece to your closet you can fake it by belting a looser top at your natural waist.

More often than not you can find me in a dress belted at the waist.  To make this leopard dress more work appropriate I threw a light weight sweater over it & belted it for a faux peplum look. I kept my shoes & belt neutral & sprinkled on pops of turquoise jewelery.
