New Accessories, New Year, Old Friends

boots: Lucky Brand; tights: walmart; bangles: gifted from my gal Jasmine at Shobha; red polish: honeyfox by Sheswai
I recently reconnected with my old pal, Becca, from my college days. I'm so happy we got a chance to catch up because she is engaged! Congrats Becca & Chris! Check out some of their gorgeous engagement photos here.

As we chatted & I caught Becca up to speed on this here blog she encouraged me to post more outfit shots. In her words "I would really dig that." So without further adieu, here are some more outfit shots with my favorite new most-comfortable-ever-no-need-to-break-in boots (self-gifted) & favorite new necklace (gifted by my sis!).

necklace: Gauge NYC , striped dress: Joe Fresh, swingy trench: Anthropologie; leopard belt: unknown - gifted by my mom;

Swingy Stripes

top (Freebird); tank (Forever21);  jeans (Ernst Sewn); heels (Steven by Steve Madden); bag (Anthropologie); lip stain (Tarte in Spirited); nail polish (Sheswai in Honey Fox)
Stripes, check. Color, check. Waxy jeans that look like leather, check. Leopard heels, check. Bright punchy polish & lips, check, check. These are a few of my favorite things all bundled into one outfit.

I know horizontal stripes can be unflattering but I think the cut of this top combined with the way it swings cancels out any unflattering that might happen & just makes it cool.  Plus, I love it, so there.

What are your favorite things to wear?

Target: A Thrifty Gal's Anthropologie

Spring is here and my urgency to shop is too.  Inspired by this springs bright colors and patterns for spring I just can't resist shopping!! (Yes, I know I probably should go to meetings - but that's a whole different story.)

Ask anyone I know what my favorite store is - they'll tell you Anthropologie without hesitation. It's known and I let it be known (thank you for whoever has gifted me an anthro gift card in the past - it makes me giddy just thinking about them and I still have the clothes I bought with them in my closet.)

Anthro is no doubt spendy.  A girl's gotta eat and as much as fashion feeds my soul it doesn't do the same for my belly (or Chris's at that).  So I give you Target, the poor gal's Anthro.  Growing up I was blessed with a mother who was trained in apparel design - so not only did all of my clothes fit they were sometimes custom made just for me!  Taking the "I can make that" mentality instilled by my mother and grandmother when referring to an expensive article of clothing,  I accepted the personal (mental) challenge to recreate some looks I found at Anthropologie.*

After a trip to Target this weekend I managed to feed my soul with this spring's trends and save about $335 all the while! See how I saved $335.04 after the jump!
