I've yet to acquire an official cake stand. I've seen d.i.y. versions of cake plates with a candle stick & drilling a hole into a plate but I haven't had time to do that, so when I had my girl friends over for lunch I made a quick impromptu version of a cake stand. All you need is...
a small ramekin or bowl (just make sure the bottom is flat) & a plate (of the same color). Simply flip the ramekin over & position the plate on top. Et voila you have a cake stand.
Genius! Thanks for sharing (and saving me 20 bucks or so...and some storage space!). It's so simple, but I never would have thought of it!
